To prevent piglets losses during lactation

Societal concerns about pig production impact major evolutions on farms: massive reduction of restraint (free-farrowing sows, exterior access), reduction of losses during lactation, stop of mutilations (tail docking, castration), reduction of antibiotics use…

In the same time, genetic progress on sow prolificity has reduced average piglet birth weight and litter quality. To this, colostrum intake is lower for each piglet, meaning smaller piglets and more sensitive to pathologies and non optimised performance.

2 ways of action:

• Inflammatory route with a modulation of the non-specific response, meaning local inflammation with swelling, redness, and heat
• Immunogenic route with the increasing of the specific immune response, meaning a better response of humoral and cellular mediation (antibodies, cytotoxic killer cells)

With these two ways, IMUN’UP permits to increase both passive and active piglet immunity by an enhancement of sow immunity and to reduce the immunity gap where immune security is lower.

The efficacy of Imun’Up is evident in its ability to improve the quality of sows' colostrum. Indeed, on average, the colostrum IgG concentration from sampled sows is 15% higher with Imun’up than the control group. This immune quality improvement is for all sows, primiparous and multiparous.

Feed to piglets, IMUN’UP contributes to enhancing piglet robustness. Trials results show an increase in growth performance with IMUN’UP. Indeed, piglets have a better daily feed intake and average daily gain without degradation of the FCR (*Feed Conversion Ratio), meaning a potential gain of 1.5 kgs at the end of the starter phase.

These actions to fix losses in the lactating period are not exhaustive. Other factors, such as parity, genetics, air circulation, feed system, can be key factors in breeding success. Softwares, nutritional recommendations, and technical skills exist to respond to these needs.
